The total circumferential body lift is the most comprehensive body contouring procedure available: it addresses excess skin on the abdomen, flanks, back, buttocks, and outer thighs — all 360° of the trunk — in a single operation. It is primarily indicated for patients who have undergone massive weight loss, whether through bariatric surgery (sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass) or intensive dieting, and who present with a hanging abdominal apron, ptotic buttocks, and generalised skin laxity. Dr Nahed Fathi Ahmed, plastic surgeon in Agadir, SOMCEP 2024–2025 evaluating member, trained at CHU Avicenne in Rabat, performs this major procedure in two sequential phases under a single general anaesthetic, delivering a harmonious and lasting result across the entire trunk.

Moderate pain, active drainage, assisted careful mobilisation
Drain removal, first independent movement, continuous compression garment
Return to sedentary activities; slight contour improvement visible

Functional result well-established; light sports authorised

The total body lift delivers a radical and lasting transformation of the trunk: flat abdomen, reshaped and elevated buttocks, slimmer thighs. The scars, placed along a low horizontal line hidden by underwear, fade progressively with the Ribxcar protocol.

A tummy tuck addresses only the front of the abdomen. A body lift treats the abdomen, flanks, back, buttocks, and outer thighs — a full 360°. It is a much more extensive procedure reserved for patients with massive weight loss and generalised skin excess.
You don't need to be at your ideal weight, but your weight must be stable for at least 12 to 18 months and your BMI must be below 30–32. Subsequent weight gain or loss after a body lift would compromise the result.
The body lift requires 2 to 3 nights of hospitalisation for close monitoring of drains, pain management and wound healing. It is a major procedure requiring several weeks of home convalescence.
Scars are placed along a low horizontal line, hidden by underwear or a swimsuit. The Ribxcar protocol optimises their evolution. They lighten progressively over 12 to 18 months.
The already long operative duration (4 to 7 hours) limits combinations. Buttock fat grafting (Gcell) can be performed in the same session. Other procedures (arms, inner thighs, breasts) are generally planned as a second stage, 6 to 12 months later.
